MAC Star Wonder Mineralize Skinfinish...

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Star Wonder was released as part of this summers Heavenly Creature collection. On the MAC website, its described as a "Plumy pink with multi-dimensional pearl".  I've seen swatches on other blogs where its definitely more plum but on my skin this comes up a really pretty pale pearly pink.

This is just so pretty to look at in the pan, all the pink and gold and purple swirls...lush.

This is a really pretty colour. I know that these are usually used as a highlight but on my pale skin its a really pretty pink blush. I wouldn't use this over the top of a blush as the colour shows up very well on me.

The two photos above were taken in natural light and show the colour accurately on my skin. You can see, not much plum but pretty none the less. If you're not a fan of glitter I'd stay away from this though as it does have tiny flecks of glitter through it. You should also be aware that this product can highlight your pores and so it's best used sparingly.

OPI Nothin Mousie Bout It Love...

Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It, from OPI's Minnie Mouse collection, is a clear polish which is infused with the tiniest pink glitter as well as big glitter hearts. LOVE. I've developed a bit of a thing for glitter polishes lately and this will be no exception. I absolutely love this. It is such a cute polish which calls on the inner girlie girl in me. I doubt i'd wear this by itself but I've layered in here with Chanel Rose Insolent.

ahh look at the hearts!

If you're not into the hearts, you could use it for the fine glitter only as the hearts are actually quite fiddly to place and don't appear to attach to the brush that easily. Thats my only criticism of it and it's really just me being picky, though it would be nice if the hearts were easier to place. That being said, this polish has absolutely been love at first sight for me.

I adore MAC Viva Glam V...

I recently treated myself to this little beauty from MAC - Viva Glam V and I have to say, this has become my go to lipstick these days.

I have spent rather a lot of money on MAC recently - a MAC section has recently opened up at my local Debenhams - good for my makeup habit, bad for my bank balance. I've been justifying this purchase though by telling myself that its ok since all the profits from these lipsticks go to the MAC Aids Fund so really, i'm not feeding a ridiculous addiction, i'm giving to charity...shh...that's my story and i'm sticking to it.

Lame excuses aside, this really is one of the most gorgeous colours. Its a beautiful neutral pink with the most gorgeous pearly finish. I Love this. Words can't describe how much I love this. It is my ideal neutral pink colour. I usually always add a gloss on top of lipstick but with this I just don't think it's needed. It has the prettiest shiny finish. I love this so much.

The photos just don't do this justice. If you're looking for a pinky nude lipstick, do yourself a favour and pick this up...do it...you wont regret it.

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Chandelier...

I've been absent from the blog for a little while - I was struck down by the cold or flu and the last thing on my mind has been blogging. I'm starting to feel a little better now so hopefully I can get back into the swing of things.

This post today is about NYX Megashine Lipgloss in Chandelier.

I LOVE these lipglosses. I have a few of them and they're just so lovely. The ones that I've tried are smooth to apply, nicely pigmented, non sticky and super shiny (as the name suggests).

Chandelier is no exception to this. Its a gorgeous purple toned pink that is packed with silver glitter. This isnt an opaque lip gloss but it still has a nice amount of pigmentation to it and it isnt completely sheer. It gives my lips a nice wash of colour and is also really pretty layered on top of lipsticks.

The formula of this is great too. Given how much glitter is in this I thought it would feel gritty but it doesnt at all, it feels light and smooth on the lips.

The other thing about these glosses that is wonderful is the smell - they smell like those cherry gummy sweets you get at the cinema...lush!

Unfortunately, NYX isnt widely available in the UK but you can get these lip glosses for £7 from the NYX Cosmetics UK Store

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips...

I was never in to the nail wrap thing when it first started to get a following. I never really "got it" as such but recently when I was in TK Maxx I saw these Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips for £3.99 and figured I would get them and give them a go.

These are little sticky strips of "nail polish" that you peel off and stick to the nails and file down to the appropriate size. These are really convenient if you want something to look cute in a rush as you don't need to wait for them to dry.

In the little pack you get 16 of the nail polish strips, instructions, a nail file/buffer and a cuticle stick.

I was slightly nervous about trying these since i'm crap with anything that requires a certain amount of co-ordination or neatness to it. These are surprisingly easy to work with, even with someone that usually struggles with simple things like this. They stick well to the nails and are pretty easy to file down.

I actually like these a lot, they're nice for a change. As someone who doesnt have a hope in hell of being able to do nail art of any kind, these are a nice option. They come off very easily with nail polish remover as well which is good and they didn't damage my nails at all.

My only complaint is that these claim on the box to last for up to 10 days. Want to know how long they lasted on me? 24 hours. Less than 24 hours actually and all i was doing was sitting at home. They chip so easily. Maybe it was down to how I applied them but I doubt it, there were no parts that werent stuck down properly so for them to peel and chip within a day is pretty poor. With that in mind, if I was going to use these again I would maybe just use them before a night out and I would apply them pretty near to the time when I was leaving the house. That being said, these are cute for something different.

The ones I got are called Wishnets.

Stila In The Light Palette Love...

This little gem was on my wish list for quite some time and I was so happy that I finally picked it up.

The In The Light Palette  is a gorgeous neutral palette from Stila. I've really been loving Stila eyeshadows recently and this palette does not let down. It contains 10 colours of varying finishes - 4 matt, 1 matt with glitter, 3 shimmer shades and 1 shimmer with glitter in it - as well as a lovely eyeliner

I'm not gonna lie, one of the things that really attracted me to this palette is that it contains my absolute favourite eyeshadow of all time - Kitten. All of the shades in this are just gorgeous though. The quality of this palette is outstanding. The shadows are very well pigmented and really soft and easy to blend. You literally have to just touch the shadows lightly to get a good colour pay off.

(bottom row)

The eyeliner is gorgeous as well. It's one of the Smudge Stick waterproof eyeliner and the shade is called Damsel and is exclusive to the palette. The colour is dark brown, almost black.  This eyeliner being called a Smudge Stick is deceiving since this sets extremely quickly. You have to work very quickly in order to smudge it at all and when it sets, it lasts all day. I have really watery eyes so everything smears on me, except this. It even lasts on my water line.

Much like the eyeshadows, you get a great colour pay off from this without having to press down hard.

One of the great things about this palette is that you get 10 near full sized eyeshadows plus an eyeliner for £24. When you factor in that these eyeliners cost £14 each by themselves, the value for money is outstanding. Love it.

Marks & Spencer Lilac Nail Polish...

I've recently discovered the new Limited Collection makeup from Marks and Spencer and have picked up a few pieces from the collection, one of which is this nail polish

This shade is called Lilac and it is just that. Well its slightly more interesting than just being a pretty lilac. It's got a gold shimmer that leans faintly green in certain lights. It's a really pretty polish. The pictures above were taken with 3 coats but it could've done with only 2, I just put the 3rd on to really strengthen the colour. This laster about 3 days without chipping which, considering these polishes only cost £3.50 each, is pretty damn good in my book.

MAC Rubenesque Paint Pot...

Yep, its another paint pot. For someone who said they weren't sure about these, I'm starting to get quite a collection.

Rubenesque is quite different from the other paint pots I have. Firstly the texture of this is much creamier and it feels almost thinner. It's definitely less sticky feeling than the others which means that it if you have oily eyelids it maybe wouldn't be as effective if you want to use it as an eyeshadow base. For me, it does work but  I wouldn't wear this by itself, if its not set with an eyeshadow, it does crease very quickly and easily.

The finish of this is also different, its very shiny and shimmery. I'm not sure if this is what makes it less effective at staying on the eyes as the finish and consistency seem to go hand in hand.

Rubenesque is a very orange toned gold colour. Personally, its maybe a little too orange for me to get away with given my ghost like complexion. Given that I always layer shadows over the top of this, that doesn't matter that much though. It's also very sheer which makes it more wearable for me.

I particularly like wearing this along with Half Baked and Smog from my Naked Palette. I feel that it makes the shimmer in Half Baked appear even stronger which, given my love for shimmer shadows, I love.

A little Glitter...

Just a short little post today with a current favourite nail combination of mine

I've really taken to the look I get when I layer Models Own hedkandi Ibiz Mix & Juicy Jules over Illamasqua Wink.

Wink is one of my favourite polishes, I just love the colour and I really like the effect these glitters give when layered.

What I will say though is that while Juicy Jules can be taken off with relative ease, Ibiza Mix is another story completely. I also really love Ibiza Mix layered over Essie Mint Candy Apple but from that experience I learned just how damn difficult it is to take off, and by difficult I mean half an hour plus to take them off and countless amounts of nail polish remover...really not a good time but its so pretty!

Lovesick Revlon Kissable Balm Stain...

After posting about the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains at the weekend, I just couldn't resist stopping in at Boots to have another look at the different colours and, of course, I picked up this little beauty.

This time, I picked up the one in Lovesick which is a gorgeous bright pink. And when I say bright...I mean bright...this bad boy is practically fluorescent!

The texture and consistency of this little "crayon" is the same as the one in Honey. It is slightly sticky at first but very smooth to put on and it doesn't drag on my lips. This colour on me is a bright bright pink but it appears to have slightly more purple in it when I wear it on my lips as opposed to a swatch. I have actually read online that others found these didn't look the same on their lips as it did when they swatched it. For me, it is different but only very slightly.

yeah, my lipstick clashes with my top...what about it?

Also, unlike Honey, this does stain my lips. It lasts a good 3-4 hours before the glossy look properly wears off and what is left is a pink stain that, while not as glossy or "lipstick looking" as the product is when its first applied, it is still very bright.

Now, when I say it stains my lips, I mean it REALLY stains my lips. As in my fool proof makeup remover wouldn't take the colour away, makeup wipes wouldn't do it, and even soap struggled. It did eventually come off but I was left with a stain on my lips for about a day after using this so be warned...this really does what it says on the tin.

The picture below is of the swatch above and I just rubbed it quite a few times to see if it would come off. It wouldnt, this does act like a lip stain, something that I didn't really find with Honey.

These are still on offer from Boots for £5.99 so if you're interested in picking any of these up, take advantage of that price while you can.

Essie In Stitches...

Just a quick little post today about this nail polish by Essie - In Stitches.

I'm not sure how to describe this colour...a dusky pink...a dark rose...a reddy pink...I dunno, what I do know is that I really like it! I think this is a polish i'm going to get a lot of wear out of in the autumn.

MAC Satin Taupe Eyeshadow...

I recently picked up MAC eyeshadow in Satin Taupe. As the name suggests this is a gorgeous taupe colour. I love how in certain lights it has an almost purple iridescent glow about it. Since this is a frost shadow it has the most lovely sheen without being too over the top.

I really love using this in conjunction with my Stila Kitten eyeshadow to create a smokey eye. Its also quite a versatile colour which can be used for a simple day look or easily built up to make a more dramatic look. As you would expect, the pigmentation is excellent with this.

I also love how easily blendable this colour is. Much like MAC Sumptuous Olive eyeshadow I find that the more I blend this colour, the more brown tones come through.

I picked up a few MAC eyeshadows recently but I think this is definitely my favourite. It's a great all round colour and I honestly don't think I own anything thats quite like it.
